Probably cognate to Arabic لُغْز (luḡz, “riddle”), لَغَّزَ (laḡḡaza, “to speak in riddles”). Sometimes falsely analyzed as an acronym of ‮לָשׁוֹן עַם זָר‬ ("foreign tongue").
