Borrowed from Prakrit *𑀘𑀸𑀯𑀦𑀸𑀴𑀻 (*cāvanāḷī), ultimately from Sanskrit चाप (cāpa) and Sanskrit नाडी (nāḍī). Cognate with Tamil ஆவநாழி (āvanāḻi).
