Etymology
According to Axvlediani, from Ossetian бодз (boʒ, “goat”). For the semantic shift he compares Russian ко́злы (kózly, “sawhorse ← goat”), бык (byk, “abutment, pier ← bull”).[1] Accepted by Androniḳašvili.[2]
