Etymology 1
From Old Georgian ტომი (ṭomi), ტოჰმი (ṭohmi), either directly from Middle Persian 𐫤𐫇𐫍𐫖 (twhm /tōhm/, “seed; family”) or via Old Armenian տոհմ (tohm, “family, race”). Ultimately from Proto-Iranian *táwxma.
