järjestyksenvalvoja

1. (law) an individual to whom certain police rights have been granted for a specific location and a limited time; security steward, bouncer, peace officer, proctor, community service officer

• In Finland, a järjestyksenvalvoja is an individual who has several rights otherwise granted only to police officers: deny and grant access to a place, perform body checks and searches on belongings, use force to remove a violently behaving person from a place, detain a person to hand over to police for arrest. A järjestyksenvalvoja can grant or deny entry to a privately-owned establishment (nightclub, festival etc.), and in that situation perform body checks and search belongings for illegal or prohibited items, like a bouncer. He or she can also control vehicular or human traffic in order to prevent crushes, in which case the term community service officer may be more appropriate.
