ePub is the abbreviation for "electronic publication" and refers to a free and open e-book standard by the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF). You can recognize them by the '.epub' file extension.
What is ePub?
It is a very famous format used for many free and open electronic books, e.g. at the Project Gutenberg, but it also supports DRM. Supporting re-flowing content, it is ideal for mobile devices such as phones and tablets. The Playstore provides plenty of reading apps supporting this format, such as e.g. Moon+ Reader and Aldiko Book Reader.
