The Knife Tool cuts new edges into meshes, adding vertices to user-defined points regardless of existing topology. The Knife Project Tool projects the topology of one object onto another, using the current view angle. Use this tag for questions pertaining to the Knife Tool and the Knife Project Tool.

The knife tool cuts through meshes, adding vertices and edges. It can be activated using K. It has several options: Cut though Z, Angle Constrain C, Deactivate snap Shift. The cut can be confirmed with Spacebar or Enter. Vertices/Turning points can be added with LMB, and the operation canceled with RMB.

Knife tool doesn't cut obscured edges

I'm using Blender 2.66, I find that the knife tool (K) doesn't work the way it used to. Dragging across an obscured edge, even if selected, doesn't cut it. There seems to be no way to activate the option to do a midpoint cut or multiple cuts.
