For over a year, I've been sketching, inking, coloring, and digitally publishing my online graphic novel. All the while, I've discussed how I wish I could make 3D models of everything. Sketching a large structure from multiple angles is tiring, but it must be done. With 3D modelling, that wouldn't be a problem.
Except I tried 3D modelling before with 3D Studio Max. I crashed and burned, and gave up on it for over a decade and stuck to 2D art and frame-by-frame animation. Jump forward, and that brings us here. I lost my copy of 3DS and did a little Googling to find Blender. Plus, these days, one can use the internet to commission an artist. So I commissioned someone for a 3D model of one of my characters, rigged, and with animations.
Now that I have examples of how it can be done, I plan to learn how to animate my characters from scratch. I have no intention of 3D modelling, but the more I learn about 3D animation, the closer I'll be to realizing my graphic novel the way I've always seen it.
As a cinematic adventure.
