Volume Gods rays are not well defined
I have a simple scene. Added an icosphere and emission to it. Set the volume scatter nodes. I can't find the rays coming out. Just at the fog and there's no clear light coming out. What setting am I missing?

How to achieve white "fog" effect within an ice cube?
I modelled a set of ice cubes. I'm content with the result, but when I look at an actual ice cube from my fridge, it has a white foggy cloud within, like a microstructure. I'm trying to recreate that effect. For this I created some spheres within…

Question about volume samples
I just want to know if I am understanding this correctly.
Lets pretend my domain is 18 vox wide, if I want Cycles to render all the way through, do I need to set the volume samples to 18?
Below I have it set to 2, does this mean it will only go 2…

Scattering and anisotropy usage
Apart from artistic purposes, what are some practical uses of negative, zero or positive anisotropy? I do understand how it affects the scattering direction but I am not sure when is it useful.

Atmospheric fog in Blender 2.8
I am a long time Blender user and I built some nice scenes with it. I also love the new 2.8 but ever since I was working with volumetrics in Blender I was never really happy with it.
So what I want to achieve is something like this:
A Fog, which…

Rendering a 3D volume
I'm playing around with ways to visualize an MRI image of my head. I've extracted my brain, so there are non-zero brain voxels in the center, and zeros to the edge of the image.
I'm imagining having a corner cut out of my brain to expose its…

Control density of a volume in a more methodical way
I would like to have a volume mesh, let's say a sphere, that gets progressively more "misty"
Imagine the mesh being at very high desnity for the top hemisphere, then density becomes lower in the lower hemisphere to the point that it basically…

Fastest way to make a fog gradient?
I need to do a fog that's dense at the bottom and gradually disappears to the top of the box. I adjusted a gradient texture with mapping, but is there a more straighforward way?
