Toxicodendron radicans is a poisonous creeping plant native to North America.

Toxicodendron radicans is a plant native to North America. It produces urushiol, a compound found in the plant's sap, that causes an itching rash on most people who touch it. There is some evidence that the immune response is cumulative (i.e. it gets worse the more you are exposed to it), and systemic responses occur for some individuals.

Poison ivy is not a try ivy. As well as growing as a trailing vine or climbing vine, it can grow as a shrub.

Poison ivy can usually be identified by groups of three leaves which are on their own stem that connects to the main vine. Leaves also have an alternate arrangement, and there are no thorns.

Poison ivy is considered a pest so tagged questions will typically be about its safe removal.
