Definite article in middle of Hauptsatz

Question

Entstanden ist der Teufelsberg nämlich ab 1950 aus den Stücken der im Zweiten Weltkrieg zerbombten Berliner Häuser.

What roles does "der" play in the above sentence? I would say it is a relative pronoun but normally for relative, it comes in Nebensatz with the idea mentioned first.

It's just the article for "Häuser" (genitive plural: der Häuser). The extended attribute "im Zweiten Weltkrieg zerbombten" and the attribute "Berliner" separate it from the noun it belongs to.

Entstanden ist der Teufelsberg aus den Stücken der Häuser.
