What risks are associated with public libraries lending mifi devices to patrons?
My local public library system will soon start lending to its patrons mobile hotspot devices. This growing trend seems to me extremely risky.

Would it make sense if WiFi portals had a password to connect to the wifi too?
It is often told that public open hotspots are dangerous because other can listen in.
Would it make any difference if there were a known password to log in to the network, and then a token/ticket/payment on the portal before getting internet…

if you are using a mobile hotspot and the mobile hotspot you are connected to is using data can the history you browse on the device that is using the hotspot be seen by the device that is the mobile hotspot?
