\cmidrule[2-3}instead. Unrelated: don't use thecenterenvironment nested intable. It adds spurious vertical spacing. Use the\centeringdirective in the place of the environment. – Bernard Jun 28 '21 at 10:28\cmidrule{2-3}. @Bernard that will not have the same thickness and spacing as\toprule. – daleif Jun 28 '21 at 10:33\cmidrule[\heavyrulewidth]{2-3}? Seems to work. @Bernard thank you, that explains some issues! – user245331 Jun 28 '21 at 10:48\topruleand\bottomruleis to isolate the table from the context; it makes little sense to remove part of them. – egreg Jun 28 '21 at 13:00
