I usually use pdfcrop to remove white margins of pdf illustrations in LaTeX documents. Using it by command line:

pdfcrop fails to crop a PDF document with non-white background
I have a PDF document created from the following input file.

pdfcrop crops too much or too little for some figures
I am on Windows 10, with pdfcrop 1.40 installed.
For some figures, pdfcrop works fine, but not for others.
