In beamer, how to temporarily cancel the frametitle

Question

I have a image in this frame and I want to show it without any other item. Just like below.

Use the plain option for the frame:

\begin{frame}[plain]
  picture
\end{frame}

As you can see from the image above, this, annihilates the decorative elements, but the width for the sidebar is still preserved, so you will need a negative \hspace:

What exactly do you want to suppress? All of the sidebar (the blue stripe and its contents) or just the navigation part inside of it but keeping the blue stripe? — Gonzalo Medina, May 07 '14 at 12:23
