[Update] This is solved thanks to Adam Liter's contribution in chat. This is summarised to a community answer below.
I cannot understand why the references do not get compiled. I am running Yosemite 10.10 and newest MacTeX. They got compiled in another document a few days ago. We are having a discussion about this bug in the chat -- welcome to join us!
Why are the references not getting compiled?

\cite{groupWork}command? Third, any reason why thegroupWorkbibliography entry has no author or title? If the default citation style expects either, there could be a problem. – Mike Renfro Nov 17 '14 at 01:21\addbibliographysource? (I've never seen this before.) Sorry, but I am not downloading a random DropBox file just to answer a question. If you don't have time to create an MWe, you don't have time to ask the question. But you could at least post it as a text file somewhere it can be viewed. – cfr Nov 17 '14 at 01:24\bibliography.... But the recommendation is to use\addbibresource.... – cfr Nov 17 '14 at 01:27\addbibresourceX( – hhh Nov 17 '14 at 01:28
