Extrude Faces along Local Normals

I am trying to extrude faces of a cylinder along local normals. 3dsmax can do it easy, couldn't find how to do it in blender. The extrude region option extrudes it as shown in the first example. I want it done like the 2nd example.

How to import a .mtl file?

I am new to Blender. I downloaded a .obj file of a plant model. When I unzipped it I found two files (.obj and .mtl). I imported the .obj file and I couldn't do the same with the .mtl to apply the material and the textures.

How can I increase/decrease undo steps?

I've been working on a mesh in edit mode, and have done several hundred actions. After realizing I was clearly going in the wrong direction, I hit Ctrl+Z a bunch of times, but it only took me back 20-30 steps. If I leave edit mode and press undo,…

How to use built-in default HDRi's in renders?

Blender 2.8 and newer contains a number of HDRi's in it by default for LookDev. I'd like to know how to use them in final renders (EEVEE or Cycles), because quite frankly they appear fantastic.

Any good free materials libraries online?

I'm wondering if there's any addons or online libraries of materials I can download. I've found one called online_mat_lib, but then discovered it was from 2008 and thought by now something like that might already be integrated into Blender.

What is branched path tracing and how is it useful?

I noticed recently that there is a new option in Cycles for "branched path tracing", can someone explain what this does in easy to understand terms? Should we expect faster render times or less samples etc? Can you give examples of best uses?

We all know what Cycles is, at least to a first approximation: Cycles is a path tracing engine [...] Specifically, cycles is a "backwards" path tracer, which means that it traces light rays by sending them from the camera instead of sending them…

Is there a Way to Align Camera to View and Fit the View?

Pressing Ctrl Alt NumPad 0 causes the camera to teleport over and align itself to the current view in the 3D viewport. However, it usually takes up only a small portion of the view, meaning that you have to move the camera back to fit the same view…
