In linguistics, grammatical mood is the use of verbal inflections that allow speakers to express their attitude toward what they are saying (e.g. a statement of fact, of desire, of command, etc.).
The indicative for facts is straightfoward, as the imperative used for commands. All other cases are complicated to distinguish (hearsay, whish, polite request, etc.), since in German addressed by different conjunctive constructions.
